Goodbye Play-Yan, Hello Play-Yan micro

Nintendo has announced plans to cease production of the multimedia add-on
Play-Yan. The device is currently available to purchase online and from 11
September, sales will stop. In its place, a new version, called Play-Yan micro,
will go on sale. The main differences between the two versions are:
- Play-Yan micro supports MPEG4 playback natively, rather than needing the extra
file the old version required
- Play-Yan micro cannot play the Play-Yan minigames Nintendo provided
- The menu character is different old / new
- MediaStage software is provided on 12cm CD instead of 8cm mini CD
- The cartridge looks slightly different
The new version will be available online from various stores from 13 September,
priced 5000 yen for the standalone Play-Yan micro, or 6000 yen for the Play-Yan
micro + MediaStage set.
