By admin | March 24, 2010
Nintendo today announced the Game Boy Micro will go on sale in Japan on 13 September for 12,000 yen. The new handheld, with dimensions 50mm x 101mm x 17.2mm has a backlit screen and plays all Game Boy Advance games. Peripherals such as the e-reader and wireless adaptor are not compatible with the device, but a new GBmicro-compatible wireless adaptor will be available for 2000 yen.
The machine will be available at launch in five different colours: black, silver, purple, blue and a secret Famicom version. The coloured variations can be seen here. The faceplate is interchangeable, however unlike the North American release, it doesn’t appear that any extra faceplates will be included in the package.
Also released on the same day, the 20th Anniversary of Super Mario Brothers, is the rerelease of Famicom Mini Super Mario Brothers, Dr. Mario + Panel de Pon, and Mario Tennis. The first two cartridges will retail for 2000 yen and the latter for 3800 yen.
