Nintendo Revolution Revealed
By admin | March 29, 2010
Nintendo unveiled their next-gen Revolution system today at E3. The system sports a shiny, black look with a front-loading disc drive for DVDs and GameCube discs. The Revolution will also feature 512MB of internal flash memory for saving games in addition to supporting SD cards. All controllers will be wireless, and as previously revealed, the system will have WiFi off the bat. New information reveals that the Revolution will also have 2 USB ports.
An add-on (the nature of which hasn’t been confirmed) will allow the Revolution to play DVD movies. Mario, Zelda and Metroid will be making appearances on the Revolution alongside new content; Smash Bros. will be an online game ready at launch. Perhaps the most interesting of all is that the Revolution will feature a downloadable library of games from the NES/Famicom, SNES/Super Famicom and N64, in addition to GameCube software.
So far only Nintendo games seem to be confirmed, but third parties may follow. On the development side, Nintendo is once pursuing the development stance it took for the GameCube and DS: easily, inexpensive development times.
So far, information on the console’s specs, or it’s final name, have yet to be revealed. More information will be revealed as the confirmed 2006 release date approaches.
