25 To Life
By admin | August 26, 2010
25 to life is a new shooter with an inner city gang war theme. That’s right you play the role of some generic racial stereotype fighting for his life. Also I seem to remember something about his “Be-hotch” but I guess it isn’t important.Your probably thinking that this game can’t be all bad if it has ” Be-hotches in it! If you were thinking this you would be mostly wrong. This game is an insulting display of generic missions and cliches. I love blood and gore as much as the next guy but there has to be some substance. Keep reading to find out why I hated this game so much.
The second you turn the game on you will see the title screen complete with “Hippity-Hop” music in the back ground. I apologize if that is the wrong term but you know us white guys don’t know much about urban culture. The opening song has repeated use of the F-word. What away to start the game! with one of the most over used vulgarities!! Needless to say if “music” with repeated and pointless uses of vulgarities and racial slurs you should probably avoid this game at all costs(which you probably should anyway). Once you start the game you will be tortured with a predictable and stupid opening movie. Then the game starts.
The first thing i noticed was the terrible graphics. Most of the levels are very dark to hide all of the texture and rendering problems. One thing that some people might like is the gore factor. Whenever the character gets shot he gets bloodie and bloodier. and when you are finally killed your generic corpse flies through the air like a rag doll. That’s right this game has rag doll physics! Sadly that is a very small feature and just about every other game has it. You will also notice that all the areas look the same. This can get boring and annoying.
As I mentioned before the soundtrack is completely made up of rap music. This is a bad thing. I found myself turning off the music after I heard the word “shizzle” a million times. If you like rap music you might not mind this too much. The sound effects are nothing too grand but they aren’t that bad either. The gun shots sound pretty decent. The voice acting is also sub-standard.
The controls are where this game really earns it’s rating. The aiming is terrible and can cause lots of frustration. It feels like the controls have a little “lag” to them.
It controls almost as badly as Superman 64. I really can’t say anything else to top that. The gameplay is very dull and boring. Once you finish the second level you might as well stop playing because there won’t be anything different pass that point. The only gameplay that is enjoyable in the least is the multiplayer. I actually enjoyed playing it. It was fairly easy to get online and once I got on there were a lot of games to join. There are several modes to play. There are deathmatch type games and swat which was my favorite. The multiplayer is hardly worth getting this game for but it did add a lot to the game because the single player isn’t even worth your time.
If you are a 13 year old white boy that desperately wants to be a black drug dealer you will love this game. If you have an IQ of 75 or greater you could find more entertaining games to play. If you get this game and find yourself bored try the online play and you should have hours of fun.
